Corten steel pipe, also known as weathering steel pipe, is a
high-strength steel with excellent corrosion resistance. This material
is designed to develop a rust-like surface sheen when unfinished,
eliminating the need to paint the material and protecting it from
further corrosion.
GRADES
Corten steel grade A588 has better corrosion resistance than ordinary carbon steel and is widely used on construction sites to reinforce building structures because the protective oxide film on the metal surface can slow down further corrosion. In most environments, the atmospheric corrosion resistance of A588 grade A steel is significantly better than carbon structural steel with or without the addition of copper. When properly exposed to the atmosphere, A588 grade A steel is suitable for many unpainted bare applications.
